The Cigar

Cohiba is Cuba’s flagship brand and has  presidential lineage having originally been created for Fidel Castro himself. It is currently the only Habanos brand that includes an extra fermentation for the Seco and Ligero filler leaves in special cedar barrels for its standard range. The extra ageing imparts a unique smoothness and rounding to the blend and has helped establish Cohiba as a worldwide symbol of excellence.

Since its creation in 1966 the brand has grown to include four La Líneas; Classica (brand public in 1982), 1492 (first of the Siglo vitolasin 1992), Maduro 5 (2007) and Behike (2010), each with a distinct character and taste.

The Cohiba Ambar is the first addition to the brand’s Línea Classica range since the introduction of the Pirámides Extra in 2012. The medium-to-full bodied blend of this Línea is closest to the original Cohiba taste, first introduced to the world in 1982 with the launch of the Lancero, Corona Especial and the Panetela. Called a Placeres in the factories of Cuba, this new cigar is a unique size within the Habanos SA portfolio. It measures 5 1⁄4” (132mm) x 53 ring gauge and is finished with a pig-tail cap. The Ambar is presented in varnished boîte nature box of 10 cigars.

Cohiba BHK 52 (Behike)

The Linea BHK swept all before it when the three sizes were launched in 2010, and yet it was the smallest, the BHK 52, that was awarded the prestigious Cigar Aficionado ‘Cigar of the Year’ in the same year. A stunning and unique taste from Havana.

Cohiba Ideales Limited Edition Book

This 2021 edition of Coleccion Habanos follows the 2020 H.Upmann Super Magnum Collecion Habanos. Cohiba Ideales is the largest of the three Cohiba releases, measuring 6 7/8’’ / 175mm with a 56 RG. This is the first time cigars of this size have been made at the Modernas factory and they are further distinguished by two additional bands: the Coleccion Habanos and a special Cohiba 55th Anniversary band. Each box of 20 cigars, out of 3000 produced, is uniquely numbered and luxuriously presented.

The longest of the Cohiba's original three sizes created in 1966 and one the cigar of choice for Cuba's late president, Fidel Castro who also used to given them as personal gifts.

This extra age creates a unique taste. The famous Cohiba flavour is most often described as ‘Grassy’, although others have noticed tones of vanilla, cocoa and coffee. It is often remarked upon how this extra fermentation makes the taste ‘smoother’ and more refined while retaining a depth and character that is entirely distinct. A prime example of a modern Habanos

In 2011 this cigar was given a Cigar Aficionado rating of 94 and they noted that it had “a complex progression of flavours, starting with cinnamon and nutmeg intonations that lead to a robust and profound coffee flavour that lasts on the finish.”

The Medio Siglo, literally “Half Century” was released to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary and draws inspiration from the Linea 1492’s shortest (Siglo I at 4”, 104mm) and widest (Siglo VI at 52 ring gauge) offerings.

Cohiba Seleccion Reserva 2002/03 H&F Reserve showcases 5  different cigars which all show the best parts of the Cohiba brand.

Cohiba Shorts are machine made with the same tobacco region reserved in Habanos. Containing the same flavours as a normal size Cohiba. A great quick smoke.

Beginning in 2019 with the Romeo y Julieta Maravillas No.8 (Year of the Rat), the Cohiba Siglo de Oro is the fourth release from Habanos s.a. to commemorate a Chinese lunar New Year (see attached).  

The Siglo de Oro measures 4 ½” (115mm) x 54 ring gauge and is an entirely new size within the Habanos portfolio (Vitola de Galera is Exitosos or “successful” in English). Only 18,888 boxes of 18 cigars have been produced with each box housing a scannable chip secured to the inner lid allowing for instant authentication and information. Each cigar is dressed with the standard Cohiba band and a foot-band denoting the “

The Siglo line of Cohiba was launched in 1992, it has always been a serious smoke, but never one that blew off the shelves. The hearty cigars delivers lots of spicy, creamy character and a bright freshness from the specially processed filler tobacco. The Cuban Minis portfolio's most recent addition is the Cohiba Wide Short. Made In Havana at the ITC factory these new Cohibas are made by machine using the same blend of tobaccos as their handmade counterparts.

Presented in the famous yellow and black of Cohiba the Wide Shorts are wider and longer than the standard Shorts, launched in 2016.

With a smoking time of around 20 minutes they provide the opportunity to enjoy a brief, and affordable, taste of the finest Cuban tobacco in the world.

Each box contains 6 mini machine made Cuban cigars.
