Bolivar Belicosos Finos
Bolivar Belicosos Finos
The Cigar
As one would expect from a brand that is named after such a powerful figure, this cigar is full bodied. Bolivar is simply one of the richest and most commanding brands within the Habanos portfolio. Although not for the novice, these traits are what make it one of the most sought-after names amongst more experienced cigar smokers.
The full gauge of the Belicoso Fino, combined with the tapered end of this Campana shape, which means “bell” in Spanish, creates the ideal format for a robust blend of leaves. The Belicoso Fino is presented either in labelled boxes or Cabinet Selection bundles of 25 cigars. The cigars in bundles are now banded.
In 2007 Cigar Aficionado described this cigar as “A gorgeous torpedo gleaming with oils. It has a near perfect draw that imparts a luxuriously textured smoke rich with profound wood and tobacco flavours”. Then, when revisiting the cigar in 2010 went on to say “The smoke has a velvety texture and is full of toast, earth and cedary flavours that cohere to a floral, herbaceous finish”. They also scored it an impressive 92 out of 100.

The Cigar
Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.
The Bolivar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.
It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.

As one would expect from a cigar brand named after such a powerful figure, this cigar is rich and full bodied. It is simply one of the richest and commanding brands within the Habanos portfolio. Although this is certainly not a cigar for the novice, these traits are what make it one of the most sought-after marques among more experienced cigar smokers.
The full gauge of the Royal Coronas (known as a Robusto within Cuban cigar factories) creates the ideal format for this muscular blend of leaves, creating a cigar of exceptional balance.
Cigar Aficionado recently reviewed this cigar, scoring it an impressive 94 out of 100 saying “Current Bolivar RCs (Royal Coronas) seem to take their inspiration from what we consider one of the golden ages for Cuban smokes, the late 1980s and early 1990s. That was when Cuban cigarmakers created and made some of their best cigars. “They also made it their Cigar Of The Year in 2006.
Min Ron NEE, in ‘An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Post Revolution Havana Cigars’ describes the royal Coronas as ‘Suave’ with ‘earthy and peppery flavours’. He goes on to add ‘Bolivar is one of my favourite brands. If I was condemned to smoke only one brand, I have no hesitation that Bolivar would be the choice’.

Partagas Capitols
Partagas Capitols
These mareva sized cigars – 5 1/8″ (129mm) x 42 ring gauge – are presented in tins of five and are the second of two products to be released by Habanos S.A under the ‘Linea Retro’ title, following on from the Romeo y Julieta Club Kings earlier in the year.
The retro metal tin, inspired by pocket cigar cases that were much in vogue in the 1970s, makes these new additions eminently portable and quite stylish. The original 1970’s cases are now much sought after by collectors around the world, fetching high prices at auction.
These cigars have been rolled to the distinct full-flavoured blend that has made Partagas such a favourite over the years and have been made “totalmente a mano con tripa larga”- totally handmade with long filler. All of the filler, binder and wrapper leaves used in making these cigars are harvested from the best tobacco-growing plantation in the Vuelta Abajo area in Pinar del Río, Cuba.
Partagas Legados 2020 Limited Edition
It measures 6 1/8 (157mm) x 48, a size known as the Hermosos No.2, that is not part of the brand’s regular production offerings and has only been used for Edición Limitada and is offered in 25 count boxes.
Partagas Linea Maestra Maestro
#5 Cigar Aficionado Top 25 Cigars 2024
Línea Maestra is a premium extension to the Partagas range in the same way that Behike was for Cohiba in 2010, Línea 1935 for Montecristo in 2017 and Línea de Oro for Romeo y Julieta in 2020. It is the second addition following the introduction of the Partagas Línea Maduro in 2018.
The three new sizes which make up the Linea Maestra are Origen, Rito and Maestro. All are unique within the Habanos portfolio and have been crafted with a Cabeza Tumbada or ‘dropped head, a style often referred to as a ‘109’ due to Partagas 109 cigars rolled with the same finish included in commemorative branded humidors in the past. This traditional style of finishing was last seen on the Ramon Allones Hunters & Frankau Anniversario 225, a special release in 2015 to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the company.
For the first time in the history of the brand and the Habanos, S.A. portfolio, all the tobacco for the new Línea comes exclusively from the San Luis region of Pinar del Río, Cuba. This gives them a special aromatic complexity without losing the brand’s unique character and blend and are classified as full bodied like the rest of the portfolio. The Línea Maestra range is presented in striking blue lacquered boxes containing 20 cigars. Each cigar is dressed with a unique blue band sporting the name of the vitola as well as an additional foot band.

Trinidad Robustos Extra Travel Humidor 2020
Habanos, S.A. is presenting the Trinidad Robustos Extra (50 ring gauge x 155 mm length) travel humidor, designed for the Duty Free and Travel Retail channels.
This launch has been showcased during the Virtual Travel Retail Expo 2020, planned by Moodie Davitt Report and held from October 12th to 16th, 2020, which is being organised as a virtual event for the first time in its history.
The Trinidad Robustos Extra Travel Humidor – containing 14 Habanos – is elegant and practical, and is specially designed to be the perfect travel accessory for the Habanos enthusiasts. In addition, the Humidor complements the unique Trinidad flavour, sought after by smokers who prefer a medium-strength blend and heavy ring gauge Habanos.
The wrapper, filler and binder leaves specially selected for Trinidad Robustos Extra come from the renowned area of Vuelta Abajo * in the Pinar del Río * region, Cuba*. These Habanos have been made “ Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga “- Totally Handmade with Long Filler- by expert Cuban torcedores – cigar rollers-, thus achieving the distinctive aroma and quality of these Habanos.
long with more than 70 companies from around the world, Habanos, S.A. is present at the Virtual Travel Retail Expo 2020 with a virtual stand in the tobacco pavilion under the Gold category. Where, in addition to Trinidad’s Robustos Extra Travel Humidor, undoubtedly one of the most anticipated launches, other prestigious Habanos products are also being exhibited. Highlights include the new Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro, the most premium of the brand, with three new vitolas, Dianas, Nobles and Hidalgos. As well as the H. Upmann Magnum 56 Jar, a product that was released last year at the Cannes Fair and is now available to enthusiasts of what is considered to be the finest tobacco in the world.
It should not be forgotten that the Trinidad name is a tribute to the town established in Cuba in 1514, called Santísima Trinidad, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Trinidad’s origins as a Habanos brand date back to 1969; as with the Cohiba brand it was only used for many years as a state gift for high-ranking foreign dignitaries. It was in 1998 that this brand was finally made available to smokers around the world, but in very limited quantities.
