The cellar master, Alexander Gabriel, has the the great pleasure to open for the very first time his private collection of exceptional cognacs. Premier Cru single cask 100% Grande Champagne, unique in the world! These preciously guarded treasures rest under the vaults of the Chais Paradis, in the underground passages of Mademoiselle's 19th-centuary manor. These forever inimitable vintages, from the oldest to the most recent, are made from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard grapes. Although it is impossible to reproduce them, they all have one thing in common: each of them bears witness to the extraordinary character of Grande Champagne and to the savoir-faire of the Cognac region perfected over the centuries. These extraordinary cognacs are not blended and are bottled at their natural alcohol content right out of the barrel, without filtration.

The Cigar 

Description

The Elegidos is the second cigar in the brand's regular catalogue. The Elegidos is rolled "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Corta" with leaves from the Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta. This rolling technique involves the use of pieces of tobacco leaf to make up the filler, rather than the whole leaf as is the case for cigars "con Tripa Larga" (Long Filler). 

Barely longer than a Robustos (50 x 124 mm), the Elegidos is in line with the new trend of "short smokes", which are increasingly appreciated by aficionados because they offer a complex aromatic profile for a relatively short tasting time.

Flor de Cano Selectos No.3 UK Regional Edition 2023

The Cigar

La Flor de Cano was established in 1932 and is renowned for its dedication to craftsmanship and tradition. The brand offers two distinct ranges: the Regional Editions, which are long-filler handmade cigars crafted with premium tobacco from Vuelta Abajo, and the standard range, which features short-filler handmade cigars combining tobacco from Semi Vuelta and Vuelta Abajo.

The UK was the first market to select La Flor de Cano for a Regional Edition, and the Selectos No.3 marks the third UK-exclusive Regional Edition, following the Short Robusto in 2010 and the Gran Cano in 2013. A total of 125,000 Selectos No.3 cigars have been produced, presented in 5,000 SLB boxes, each adorned with a unique band printed with the size name.

The Selectos No.3 is a Cervantes size, also known as a Lonsdale, a format popularized by Hugh Cecil Lowther, the fifth Earl of Lonsdale (1857–1944). Although it was once one of the most popular sizes, today only the Montecristo No.1 represents this format in the Habanos portfolio.

The Selectos No.3 offers a sweet floral beginning with a citrus freshness that evolves into a rich spiciness while maintaining balance and avoiding bitterness. The slender vitola provides the perfect format for La Flor de Cano's elegant blend to develop gracefully throughout the hour-long smoking experience. This cigar is delightful to enjoy now and promises to age with the refinement and grace of its esteemed predecessors.

Don Francisco Fonseca founded his brand in the 1890’s. The cigar delicate blend of filler and binder tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo zone makes it the ideal Habano to follow a light meal.

An unusual size similar to a Lonsdale offering a light, vegetal taste at the outset that develops some earthiness as it progresses. Now discontinued in Cuba, but some stocks remain in the UK.

A blend of pot and column still rums 'tropically aged' for a minimum of 12 years in American oak barrels. The reference to 'tropical' ageing is included to highlight the fact that due to the warm Bajan climate, the maturation process is taking place faster than it would here in Europe.

Exceptional Cask Selections represent the unique, and rare offerings of Foursquare Rum Distillery that Richard has hand selected – his personal projects only released when he feels they are of exceptional quality. These are one of a kind expressions, available only for a limited time, and showcasing truly unique approaches to both Rum blending and maturation.

This is the 28th instalment in the legendary Exceptional Cask Selection from masters at Foursquare in Barbados. Convocation combines pot and column-distilled rum, matured for 14 years in a host of bourbon and Madeira casks for a rich, complex profile, packed with juicy fruit sweetness and oaken vanilla. To be more specific, it's a combo of one 14-year-old bourbon cask, one 14-year-old Madeira cask, and a third cask of dual-matured rum, spending its first 10 years in bourbon and final four in a Madeira cask, married and bottled at a robust 62% ABV.

This is the second exclusive bottling for the Whisky Exchange from Barbados' Foursquare distillery. Named Diadem - a type of crown or headband worn by monarchs as a sign of royalty - this rum is definitely a crown jewel. A single traditional blended rum( from pot and column stills), this has been aged for 12 years in ex Bourbon and ex Madeira casks.

NOSE

Crême brûlée and freshly polished leather; lardy cake and fresh paint; sugar-dusted sultanas and polished oak: a careful balance of sweet and savoury. Freshly peel bananas and spiced sponge cake develop along with roasted pineapple and brown sugar.

PALATE

Coffee-covered banana fritters to start, with the toffee notes gradually getting both more singed and fruity: baked apples, overripe pineapples and squishy bananas. Char notes build to balance the sweetness, with an accompaniment of bittersweet dark chocolate.

FINISH

Singed toffee notes fade to reveal more roasted banana and dark chocolate.

Glengoyne 25 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry casks for a quarter of a century, this unique malt is an important addition to the Glengoyne collection. This bright amber beauty has red fruits, leather and brown sugar on the nose and soft oak, cinnamon, stewed fruits and a Seville marmalade tang on the palate.The finish is very long with spicy liquorice. The malt is presented in a new heavy bespoke bottle and outer box. The bottle features a fine metal stopper, crafted cartouche and delicately branded neck tag and is attractively displayed in an oak box interior which includes an engraved plinth. The elegant exterior has a refined feather pattern subtly varnished on the pack.
