The Alma Fuerte Colorado Eduardo I is a Nicaraguan puro that uses a wrapper grown by the company in Nicaragua’s Jalapa region that is lighter than the main Alma Fuerte blend. The company says that the wrapper has been aged for 10 years prior to the cigars being rolled.

Plasencia Cigars has announced that the Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Robustus II is now shipping to retailers. The new size was shown off first at the 2023 PCA which took place in Las Vegas this past July.

The Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro Robustus II is a new vitola in the existing Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro line. This is the first vitola in the line that is round, as opposed to box pressed. The Colorado Claro wrapper, which comes from the vast Plasencia tobacco library, has been aged 10 years.

Plasencia Cigars, a world-leading premium tobacco grower announces that the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto I Hexagon.  This blend, a line extension to the Plasencia Alma Fuerte brand, features a unique smoking experience by combining Plasencia’s innovative Hexagon shape with ten-year aged tobacco.

The unique shape imitates the honeycomb. Borrowing from nature, this shape allows to fit the most area with the least perimeter. This shape provides a more complex smoking expression due the pressing of the cigar into a hexagon shape. The new shape brought forth a new way to enjoy cigars. A smashing success, the hexagon shaped cigar became Plasencia’s number one selling cigar. The Plasencia family felt it was time create a line extension to the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Hexagon. This result is the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto I Hexagon- Colorado Claro.

What sets this blend apart from its predecessor is a slight tweaking of the binder and filler which is housed in an incredibly unique wrapper. The Colorado Claro wrapper which comes from the vast Plasencia tobacco library was aged for 10 years, which results in a smoother smoking experience. Smokers will experience notes of cocoa, almonds, and transitioning to a hint of nutmeg and cedar in the final notes.

The Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto II Hexágono is the Gordo size of the Alma Fuerte line produced by Plasencia, in Nicaragua. It is a Nicaraguan puro and everything about it is made by Plasencia, from the cultivation of the leaves, passing through their processing up to the production of the cigar. The whole production chain is controlled in order to guarantee the highest quality.

Overall, the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto II Hexágono releases an exceptionally flavourful smoke. It is very satisfying and has a particularly long finish

The limited-edition, single size is aptly named Parejo Gordo, and it measures 7 inches by 58 ring gauge. What makes it distinct is the long, braided tail extending from the cap. Each cigar is topped with a long piece of braided tobacco that resembles a horse’s plaited (or braided) mane or tail. According to the company, making the braid is an elaborate process that involves a third roller just to make this particular cap properly.

“The process requires twice the time of a standard cigar and precision humidity control to maintain the cap’s structural integrity,” says Nestor Andrés Plasencia, fifth-generation owner of Plasencia Cigars. “Each braid is sealed with a dual pañuelo [handkerchief] wrap, preserving the integrity of this heirloom-quality finish.”

 Every cigar consists of a Nicaraguan wrapper grown organically in Jalapa, Nicaraguan binder and filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco. All the tobacco was grown and aged by the Plasencia family.

Por Larrañaga, means “By Larrañaga” and was first registered in Havana by Ignacio Larrañaga in 1834. It is the oldest handmade brand Havanas still being rolled in Cuba today. In 1890 the brand received further attention when Rudyard Kipling included the assertion that “There’s peace in a Larrañaga” in his famous poem “The Betrothed”.

In recent years UK devotees of the distinctive, sweet, light to medium bodied blend, have content themselves with the brand’s Petit Corona as the only size on the market. Happily there are now four cigars in the range, the Petit Corona, Montecarlos, Picadores and the new Galanes.

Galanes (‘Gallants’ in English) is 4 3⁄4”/120mm long and, with a 52 ring gauge, it is the brand’s widest cigar. It is also an exclusive size within the Habanos portfolio.

The Por Larrañaga Leones is a 42 Ring Gauge x 155mm long cigar that will come in boxes of 10. Only 50000 boxes have been released. Like every other Por Larrañaga, it comes with an immaculate golden band.

The Cigar

This 2014 release is only available from La Casa del Habanos and Havana Cigar Specialists. However, its light to medium blend with distinctive floral and zesty notes makes it well worth seeking out. Ideal after lunch with a cold glass of buttery Chardonnay.

The cigar is a robusto extra vitola that measures 5 1/2 inches (140mm) long with a 54 ring gauge, a vitola with the factory name Duke. It is a vitola that debuted in 2009 with the Romeo y Julieta Dukes, an Edición Limitada, and has since been used for the Partagás Serie E. No.2 and a number of Edicion Regional releases.

The release, which was commissioned by Coprova, the distributor of Habanos S.A. products in France, is limited to 20,000 individually numbered boxes of 10 cigars, a total run of 200,000 cigars.

This is the second time that the Por Larrañaga brand has been selected for a French Edición Regional; in 2015 the Por Larrañaga Opera was released, a 4 1/2 x 52 petit robusto, with the cigar getting a re-release in 2016.

The Prometidos is one of five Por Larrañaga Ediciónes Regional that are part of the 2021 class.

Porsche Design Lighter Silver Flower Flame, the blades are made with the highest quality Japanese stainless steel, and a double blade design. Ring gauge up to 60.

The eighth release of Diageo's Port Ellens is the fourth from 1978 and arrives in slightly tweaked packaging with a new box design, although the label remains largely the same.

The Brand:

Punch is one of the very oldest Havana brands. Don Manuel Lopez of Juan Valle & Co founded it in the mid 19th Century with an eye to the booming British market where a humorous magazine of the same name was much in vogue.

A contented Mr Punch, the clown who personified the magazine, is still featured on every box, cigar in hand and surrounded by 19th Century images of cigar making that remain virtually unchanged over a century and a half later.

In 1931 Punch became associated with Hoyo de Monterrey and the two brands have been made at the same factory ever since. Today the factory is La Corona.
