Sancho Panza Cigars – Brand Status & Heritage
Established in 1848 by Don Emilio Ohmstedt—also the founder of El Rey del Mundo—Sancho Panza is a historic Cuban cigar brand named after the beloved character from Don Quixote. Although the brand was not especially large in its early years and was discontinued by 1898, it was later re-established under new ownership in the early 20th century.
After changing hands several times, Sancho Panza returned to the Rey del Mundo Company in the 1930s and found renewed success during the 1940s and 1950s, particularly in the Spanish market. Today, it is classified by Habanos S.A.within the “Other” portfolio category and receives occasional Regional Edition releases.
The range features medium-strength cigars, crafted exclusively with premium tobacco from the famed Vuelta Abajoregion, offering balanced flavour and classic Cuban character.
