Romeo y Julieta Cigars – Brand Status & Heritage
Founded in the 1850s and officially registered in 1873, Romeo y Julieta is one of Cuba’s most historic and recognisable cigar brands. Fully established by 1875, the brand’s legacy is celebrated through its iconic Aniversario humidors, which date back to that formative year.
Classified by Habanos as a Global Brand, Romeo y Julieta commands a significant market share and is renowned for its consistency, elegance, and approachability. The core range features medium-strength cigars, crafted exclusively with premium tobacco from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region.
Until the 1980s, all standard production cigars were pre-1960 releases, with distinctive special packaging also discontinued during that decade. Special releases began in 1999 with inclusion in the prestigious Siglo XXI Humidor, further cementing the brand’s enduring prestige.
